2020 Fall Season Plan
Updated: Aug 24
Dear NASA Community,
As a board we have put together a plan for soccer in North Andover this fall. The plan follows the best guidance from the governor's office and from the Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association. As this guidance continues to change, we are committed to adapting to their best recommendations to ensure that our community is safe.
We have updated our safety plan which can be found on our website at https://www.northandoversoccer.com/covid-19. We ask that all parents and players review the plan as it contains critical information about the requirements for players, coaches and parents. It covers critical information such as:
The rules for before, during and after practices and games
Parents will need to complete a COVID health form before each activity
Information about spectators at games
Limit of one parent or guardian per player
Mandatory six feet of social distancing
Mandatory facial covering at all times
The set of modifications to the rules of the game, in order to allow for safe game play
The county program in which NASA travel teams participate has made the difficult decision not to organize league games this fall. NASA will begin the travel program with a schedule of in-town games in order to get our kids playing soccer on schedule. Games will be played with another in town team, from the same or similar grades. Expect these games to mix players from both teams to ensure balanced game play and fun for all players. Practices will continue to be twice a week with your team. The board is working with other town programs to set up a series of friendly games offering all teams the opportunity to play against teams from other towns. The specific timing and quantity of the games will depend on further discussions with the other towns and the continued safety of soccer in Massachusetts. Our current plan is for there to be in town games through September and hope to start friendly games in October.
In Town Program
For our GK, G2, and G4 programs, we are planning to proceed with their usual format and timing. The games will follow the game modifications outlined within our safety plan, but should continue to provide an excellent environment for the players to develop their passion and skill.
Since the travel program is not dependent on ECYSA deadlines, we have decided to accept additional registrations until the teams have reached capacity.
Registration is still open for in town teams as well. Please register as soon as possible to allow for easier team building.
Due to the uncertainty surrounding the season, the board has decided to eliminate late registration fees for the fall 2020 season. Anyone who may have been charged a late fee should have been refunded.
If any player or family is uncomfortable, we will continue to offer refunds until the season begins.
If the guidance from the state changes and no soccer season can be held, all registrations will be refunded in full.
September 8 - Practices begin
September 12 - First game day
October 10 - No games for Columbus Day weekend
November 7 - Last game of the season
Thank you to everyone for the support you have shown the program. It has been a wild year, but I am hopeful that with the proper precautions, kids will be playing soccer safely in a few short weeks. There is a lot to do between now and then, so please be patient as we finalize the teams (in town teams), practice and game schedules.
If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out.
