North Andover Soccer regularly has around 1,000 children registered the program. We always need of coaches and assistant coaches to keep this program strong and rosters balanced. We had a shortage of coaches last year and were forced to make teams with oversized rosters. We don't want to do that again.
Here is a look at each age group and the expected changes coming this fall. Even if you can't commit to coach practices, we could still use your help at games. In order to help during practices or games, you must be a registered coach with MYSA.
We hope you will consider volunteering to be a coach for one of the following age groups:
GK (Kindergarten and Pre-K)
Games are Saturdays at Sharpners Pond Field. Games are one hour and your team will be assigned to a field number. During the 8-week season, your games will vary weekly at 8:30, 10:15, and 12:00.
Even if you haven't coached soccer before, we will teach you. We provide coaches with fun games and tips on managing your scrimmages in a weekly email called the "GK Tip of the Week."
G2 (1st and 2nd Grade)
New this year, G2 soccer will be played on a 30x20 field and be 4v4 with no goalies. This is a nationwide change made by USYSA, designed to have players develop their foot skills and creativity in an environment that allows for experimentation and success. Because it is very unlikely that we'll have enough coaches to create teams with 8 players, we will make teams that have a minimum of 12 players and as many as 16 depending on how many coaches we have.
G2 soccer has two practices a week with a game on Saturday. Because this age group splits their games into two teams playing simultaneously, we need more than one coach. Even if you can't commit to coaching because of practices, we could still use your help for Saturday games.
G4 (3rd and 4th Grade)
G4 soccer is 7v7 including the goalie. Ideally, there will be 12 players per team, but may go as high as 14 depending on the how many coaches we have.
G4 soccer has two practices a week with games on Saturday.
